Le Vent des forÊts is supported by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication -
DRAC Lorraine, the Regional Council of Lorraine, the Meuse Departmental Council, the
associated villages between Aire and Meuse, and the villages of Dompcevrin, Fresnes-au-
Mont, Lahaymiex, Pierrefitte-sur-Aire, Nicey-sur-Aire and Ville-devant-Belrain.
Le Vent des Forêts is a 5,000 hectare rural site dedicated to contemporary art. It supports
artistic projects that relate to nature, landscape and the local population. Le Vent des Forêts
offers artists a unique opportunity to produce works on its own site and over a wider territory.
During the annual festival, six villages host a summer residency for artists in the heart of
Meuse in the region of Lorraine. For this event, artists work for two weeks in close
collaboration with the rural community. More than 140 artworks have been created over a
twelve-year period, covering over 450 kilometres of marked trails, open to the public from
March to the end of September.
Le Vent des Forêts’ objective is to establish a convivial relationship between the artists and
the public each year. Accommodation is provided by host families and the artists are assisted
in the making of their projects by local residents wishing to take part in the creative process.
